The Resume of JC Santana

Juan Carlos Santana received his Bachelor and Masters Degree in Exercise Science from Florida Atlantic University.  He is currently pursuing his doctoral work at the University of Miami's Department of Exercise and Sport Sciences.
 Carlos is the director and CEO of the Institute of Human Performance in Boca Raton Florida.  His training methodologies have been successfully applied to the full spectrum of the population; youth, geriatrics, rehabilitation and elite athletes.  Carlos has authored numerous articles, books and videos, on various topics involving optimum physical performance.  His energetic approach to life and advanced knowledge of conditioning have made him a sought after international speaker and consultant.  Carlos currently consults for various governmental agencies, educational institutions, college and professional teams and equipment manufactures.
Carlos's professional responsibilities have included serving as the Chairman of the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) Sport Specific Conference, the NSCA Florida State Director and as a member of the NSCA Conference Committee.  He has also been involved in the certification programs for the American College of Sport Medicine (ACSM) and USA Weightlifting.  Carlos has taught Sports Training Systems and Strength Training at Florida Atlantic University and is currently involved in several ongoing research projects.
            Carlos is currently the Sport Specific Conditioning Column editor for the NSCA Journal.  He also sits on the distinguished NSCA Board of Directors.  Carlos is a member and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) with the NSCA, and a member and a certified Health Fitness Instructor with the ACSM.  He is also a certified Senior Coach and Club Coach Course Instructor with the USA Weightlifting, and a LEVEL I coach with the USA Track and Field Association.
 


OBJECTIVE:
To positively impact the human experience using multi-disciplinary performance enhancement strategies.  Specific interests include athletic development, lecturing/education, authorship, and consulting.  Areas of specialty include functional strength and power development, and its integration into the performance paradigm.

Juan Carlos has presented over 100 times at national and international fitness conferences since 1995.  He is a regular speaker at IDEA, NSCA, ECA, and the Can Fit Pro conferences.  Juan Carlos also presents workshops for: Perform Better, Northeast Seminars, Fitness Resources, Free Motion Fitness, Lifeline, Heart Rate, Inc., Interactive Metronome and other companies throughout the world.  His consulting clients have included United States Tennis Association, University of British Columbia, Florida Atlantic University, Reebok, LA Sport Clubs, Town Sport International, Gold's Gym, World Gym, to name a few.  Professional and university coaches have attended his seminars, including coaches from the New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, Miami Marlins, New York Rangers, New York Islanders, Professional Golf Association, U of Miami, Columbia University, and many others.
